LAS VEGAS, Feb. 3, 2005 – LogistiCare announced today that its Las Vegas office is conducting a clothing drive for women and children who have escaped abusive situations and now are living in SafeNest, a domestic violence shelter in Las Vegas.
SafeNest is asking mainly for the following items: clothes for women, apparel for children and toiletries. Donation boxes will be located throughout the city and at the LogistiCare office: 3291 Buffalo Drive, Suite 7. Donations are being accepted through Feb. 14.
“This is our second year being involved with this important cause,” said Meghan McCann, health care manager for LogistiCare. “Domestic violence is a very serious issue, and we want to raise awareness of how it affects people’s lives and that something as simple as donating clothing can make a big difference in helping victims adjust.
“We’re asking people to look closely at items they have but don’t wear anymore and seriously consider donating them to this cause. Everyone has some things that just never get out of the closet anymore.”
“We certainly appreciate all the effort LogistiCare and its employees put into this clothing drive,” said Mary Lou Fineman, a victim advocate at SafeNest. “Many of our residents come to us with only the clothes on their backs. We want everyone to know that domestic violence really hurts people and changes lives forever.”
