ATLANTA, Jan. 18, 2005 – LogistiCare has signed a contract with Elder Health Inc. of Baltimore to coordinate round-trip transportation to health plan providers in Elder Health’s Medicare Advantage network.
Elder Health provides transportation services to enrolled members in several of their health plan benefit options. Plans that include a transportation benefit are available to
Elder Health enrolled members living in Washington, D.C., and Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties in Maryland.
“We are glad to be partnering with Elder Health to coordinate transportation for their Medicare members,” said John Shermyen, president and chief executive officer of LogistiCare. “We see this is an opportunity with great growth potential; and most important, it is another opportunity for us to help meet key transportation needs of seniors.”
As of late 2004, more than 100 members each day were using the transportation benefit provided by Elder Health. The company projects that utilization will continue to soar with upwards of 800 members per month being transported to and from doctor appointments and other health facilities.
