RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 19, 2004 – LogistiCare is proud to announce that it will be the main sponsor of this year’s Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia (EFVA) “Epilepsy Awareness Stroll” at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk on Saturday, Nov. 20.
Family and friends are invited to stroll the zoo to help raise funds for various services coordinated by the EFVA. Some of those services include, public information and education programs, support groups, professional education and online information.
“LogistiCare views itself as more than just a company doing business in the various states in which we operate, so being highly involved in events such as this are very important to us,” said Freda Smith, Virginia operations director for LogistiCare. “Part of our mission is to give back to the community, and being part of an activity like this helps us to further that mission while also being good community citizens. And that’s very important to us.”
“We are grateful to companies like LogistiCare that give so generously to help support our work,” said Suzanne Bischoff, Ph.D., executive director of the EFVA. “Without community support, it would be difficult to provide the wide variety of services we offer for Virginians with epilepsy. Every little bit helps us to meet our mission.”
Several hundred strollers are expected to take part in the event, which begins at noon. Participants in the Stroll will be given free admission to the zoo.
The EFVA is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1978 to promote awareness about epilepsy and provide assistance to Virginians with epilepsy, and their friends, employers, co-workers and teachers.
