MISSOURI SELECTS LOGISTICARE TO PROVIDE COST-EFFECTIVE MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION SERVICE

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., June 2, 2004 - LogistiCare Solutions, LLC, the nation's leading provider of specialized transportation network management, announced today that it has been selected to provide non-emergency medical transportation to more than 400,000 Missourians enrolled in Medicaid.

The Missouri Division of Purchasing awarded a three-year contract to LogistiCare after determining that the company offered the highest quality service at the lowest price. The Department of Social Services, Division of Medical Services, redesigned the program, and the new contract will save Missouri taxpayers more than $40 million over the next three years.

"With this partnership, the Missouri Department of Social Services has taken a big step to ensure access to health care for thousands of Missourians through a reliable transportation network," said Albert Cortina, the company's chief operating officer. "Our company designed this transportation management system to provide Missouri with significant cost savings and budget stability, along with the reassurance that its Medicaid population receives high-quality, reliable service."

Beginning July 1, LogistiCare will coordinate transportation to and from health care appointments for eligible Missourians enrolled in the state Medicaid program. Individuals will be provided a toll-free number to call to request transportation, and LogistiCare will send the most appropriate level of transportation, depending upon whether the patient is ambulatory, uses a wheelchair or requires a stretcher.

A network operations center in Kansas City will be the hub of statewide operations, including a call center operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A regional office in central Missouri will oversee quality assurance. The company will contract with local transportation providers in various areas of the state to ensure continuity of service to customers.

"Our office in Kansas City will become the company's flagship office for new business throughout the Midwest," Cortina said.

Recognized as one of the nation's fastest-growing private enterprises, LogistiCare now operates in 10 states and the District of Columbia. Missouri will be the 11th state in which the company provides non-emergency medical transportation services.

LogistiCare pioneered the transportation network management model in the mid-1990s as a centralized solution to the previously fragmented approach of multiple providers with varying levels of service. The company screens callers and trips for eligibility, schedules and dispatches transportation, handles billing and monitors quality assurance, including vehicle inspections, driver training and customer service.

The LogistiCare model has saved money, reduced fraud, enhanced service and cultivated small business ownership, while increasing access to health care for the most vulnerable populations.
