STATE OF NEVADA SELECTS LOGISTICARE FOR STATEWIDE NON-EMERGENCY TRANSPORTATION SERVICES

ATLANTA, GA, August 20, 2003 –  LogistiCare Solutions, LLC, the nation's leading provider of specialized transportation network management, announced today that it has been awarded by the State of Nevada Purchasing Division a contract to operate the statewide non-emergency medical transportation services for more than 200,000 Nevadans.  The multi-year, agreement becomes effective October 1, 2003, extends to October 1, 2005, and includes an option for one, two-year renewal. The two-year contract is valued at $5 million annually.

Under terms of the contract, LogistiCare will assure necessary transportation to and from health care appointments for eligible individuals enrolled in the state Medicaid program, or Nevada Check Up, Nevada’s State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), both of which are administered by the State of Nevada Division of Health Care Financing and Policy.

“This partnership is a win for all involved,” said John L. Shermyen, president and chief executive officer of LogistiCare. “Our country is facing dwindling state resources and this agreement allows the State of Nevada to enhance and raise the standards of services to those citizens typically most in need of health care, while ensuring proper oversight of its program dollars. For us, we’re gratified that Nevada is the fifth state this year that has selected our company, and the management model we pioneered.”

LogistiCare will staff and operate its statewide operations out of a central business office located at Las Vegas, Nev., and a regional office in northern Nevada. These offices will perform more than 90 percent of all program functions, including routing and scheduling, public transit administration, field investigation, as well as facilitating local provider relations, case management and all quality assurance aspects. Call reservations and invoice verification will be handled out of LogistiCare’s Wallingford, Conn., network operations center, where more than 60 percent of  the customer service representatives are bi-lingual in English and Spanish.

About the Transportation Network Manager Model

LogistiCare pioneered the transportation network management model, which offers a complete, single contract, outsourcing solution that combines centralized management of certain gatekeeping processes through proprietary technology with management oversight of local, commercial, nonprofit, and public transportation companies that deliver the actual trip service. LogistiCare’s market approach ensures the appropriate level of service (e.g., ambulatory, stretcher, wheelchair, ambulance) is provided in the most efficient and satisfactory manner. Prior to this approach, a fragmented system of multiple providers offering varying levels of service existed. The company’s network operation centers perform eligibility screening, reservations, billing verification, performance reporting, and IT support. Its business offices ensure proper transportation provider relations, facility outreach, quality assurance, and in many instances routing and dispatching. The model has achieved significant cost savings and fraud reduction, while increasing service levels and cultivation of small business ownership. More important, its introduction into the marketplace has significantly increased health care access for millions of society’s most medically and physically fragile populations.
