ATLANTA, March 1, 2005 – LogistiCare today announced that it has been awarded the contract to manage non-emergency transportation (NET) services for all Medicaid beneficiaries in Broward County (Fla.).
LogistiCare will manage the complete NET transportation process, including eligibility screening, trip scheduling, and third-party contracting with local transportation providers who will deliver the actual trip service. In its management oversight role, LogistiCare also will be responsible for provider trip reimbursement and overall quality assurance.
"We are pleased to be providing this very important service to all of Broward County," said John Shermyen, president and chief executive officer of LogistiCare. "We’ve been operating in South Florida since early 1990, providing transportation management services to Medicaid beneficiaries and ADA beneficiaries. We hope this opportunity will further demonstrate the efficiencies that our transportation management model brings to everyone involved, especially quality service and cost savings.”
With its expansion in Broward County, LogistiCare will be servicing nearly 600,000 South Florida Medicaid beneficiaries. That figure includes approximately 410,000 Medicaid beneficiaries currently being served through the company’s agreement with Miami-Dade Transit (MDT).
LogistiCare will be adding about 20 employees to its current South Florida staff of 35.
The agreement is effective March 1.
